Donate $25 to charity, get $35 back!

Here's a great deal from SwagBucks, a shopping portal that earns you points back that are then redeemed towards gift cards for a wide variety of retailers.  The selection of gift cards is too numerous to list, but includes many popular options such as Amazon, Starbucks, Sams Club, Dunkin Donuts, ExxonMobil, and even Visa gift cards.

Currently, they have an offer where if you donate $25 to the Nature Conservancy, you'll receive 3,500 "SwagBucks", which equates to $35 in rewards.

How does it work?  Follow these steps:

  1. Create an account at SwagBucks or sign in to your existing account.
  2. Go to this page or search for "nature conservancy" in the search box from your SwagBucks account.
  3. Complete your donation of $25.
  4. Once the points are in your account, you can redeem them for any of the gift cards available on the site.
Per the terms of the offer, "SB will appear as Pending for 3 days upon offer completion. This offer may only be redeemed (1) one time per user. Must submit valid name, address, credit card and other subscription information to earn SB. Only valid sign ups and payments will be credited. SB may be revoked for invalid or cancelled payments. This offer is presented to you by Swagbucks on behalf of a third-party merchant or sponsor ("Merchant"). Swagbucks does not endorse (and therefore is not responsible to you for) the Merchant's views, policies, products or services. Have questions? Please contact the Swagbucks Help Center."

Free cell phone service... act fast (Flash promo tonight 4/14/16 5-9PM PST)

Here's a great way to get FREE cell phone service.  A company called RingPlus offers free cell phone plans that run on Sprint's LTE network.

Tonight, 4/14/16 from 5-9PM they will be having a flash promo where new lines can sign up for a plan that offers 3,200 minutes, 3,200 texts, and 3,200MB of data every month FOR FREE!  You don't get charged anything else unless you go over those amounts.

There's are a few catches.  Since it is supported by ads, when you place a call, instead of hearing a standard ring, you hear music mixed with some ads (the person you're calling doesn't hear anything different.)   You have to pay a $25 initial "Top-up" fee to cover any overages you may have, but that doesn't get touched unless you go over your monthly allotment.  I've currently got 4 different lines running on 4 different plans right now... one for each member of the family.

Monthly allotments vary depending on the plan you sign up for, and their plans change often.  Currently, any Sprint, Boost Mobile, FreedomPop or Virgin Mobile phone can work on  RingPlus.  However, starting on 4/17/16, a device will have to have first be used on it's original network for a year before it can be used on RingPlus.

So until then, if you don't have a phone, there is a great way to get started.  BestBuy has the Boost Mobile Moto E on sale for $29.99 which works perfectly with RingPlus.   They also have the Lg Tribute Duo for $32.99 or the LG Tribute 2 for $29.99.  All of these phones work perfectly with RingPlus right out of the box, and can later be upgraded to a better phone by buying a used phone.

Additionally the follow phones should be compatbile with a Sprint SIM card.

Bye bye phone bills!

Want to get rid of your home phone bills?

Newegg has the Obi200 VoIP Telephone Adapter on sale for only $33.99.  This adapter works (and is actually officially supported by) Google Voice.  Google Voice allows you to make free phone calls to any number in the US, and offers very low rates for international calls as well.  Call quality using this device is incredible - I've been using it for 1 1/2 years!

If you have an existing land line or other VoIP line, you can port the number to Google Voice and keep your existing number.  If you need help with porting, ObiHai even offers a porting tutorial.

Don't forget to use your favorite cash back site when buying the Obi200 VoIP Telephone Adapter for extra saving!
