There's a hole in your pocket...

Imagine a hole in your pocket through which you lost a quarter a day.  Over the course of a year, that adds up to $91.25.  Over ten years, $912.50.  What initially seems like a small loss doesn't seem so small anymore then, does it?
When you shop online, are you automatically earning extra cash back for all of your purchases?  And I'm not talking about credit card points/cash back, but an additional percentage of cash back from a portal for making your purchase.  If you're not doing this, then it's time to fix the hole in your pocket as these savings can truly add up.
For my first official blog post, I'd like to introduce you to the wonderful world of cash back portals and show you how a few extra clicks on the keyboard before making an online purchase can add up to big savings in your pocket.
Since I first started using cash back portals 15 years ago, I've accumulated a total of over $8,600 in cash back through these methods.
The way it works is simple - before shopping online, you go to a cash back portal and click through to the merchant site from the portal.  In doing so, your purchase will be tracked and you will receive a rebate for your purchase.  Rebate percentages vary by portal and sometimes by day, and I've earned anywhere from 0.25% to 52% back on orders I've placed, along with a few special offers of 100% back on specified purchases.
Here's how you can get started.  There are two different methods you could follow - one to maximize your cash back, the other to simplify things but not always get the biggest possible payout.

Getting the Most Cash Back

The best way to truly maximize your savings, since payback rates can change on a sometimes daily basis, is as follows:

First, you need to sign up for accounts at the following sites:
Once you have your accounts established, go to CashBackMonitor and search for the retailer you are about to make a purchase from.  You should get a result that looks similar to this:

Find the highest paying site (note that occasionally one of the sites at the bottom of the list that says "up to x%" may actually be the highest paying) and click through to the portal.  Pull up the retailer on the portal site and click through to the site and then make your purchase.

A Simpler Way (but a little less savings)

Now, if this seems like too many steps, then this alternative will help simplify your strategy while still earning some of the top payouts.  All you do is sign up for TopCashBack and then go straight to TopCashBack and click through to the retailer site whenever you are shopping.  TopCashBack, as implied by their name, typically has some of the highest cash back rates out there.  Plus they have a "Highest Cash Back Guarantee" where they will match another site's rate, however you need to submit a claim for each transaction you are looking to match which can be a bit tedious.

Whichever method you choose to use, it's about time to fix that hole in your pocket...

Disclosure:  Some sites pay a commission for referral.  I will always post the best deal/offer that I know of, regardless of if it pays a referral or not.  If you choose to sign up through my links for those sites, it is greatly appreciated!
